Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start therapy?

First of all, check on my availability to see if I’m accepting new clients and if you’re able to come in during my available times. If it works, you can email or call me to set up a time to meet. Some people have more questions or would like to get a feel for whether we might work well together. I don’t mind a brief 10-15 minute phone call to answer those questions.

What will my first session be like?

Generally the first session, I am gathering information to see what kind of therapy you might need. We can do it one of two ways: Either you can share with me why you want to start therapy and what you ‘d like to get out of it. Or I can ask questions to help you get the conversation started. Whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Do you take insurance?

Unfortunately I do not take insurance. However, many of my clients are able to submit their receipt for reimbursement. Depending on their policy and/or company, they are usually able to get out of network reimbursement for our sessions. I will gladly fill out any paperwork needed to help you get reimbursed.

How long is each session?

Sessions are 50 minutes. Usually we spend 5 minutes scheduling so plan to be at your appointment about 55 minutes.

How long will I be in therapy?

Because every person is different, it is very difficult to answer this upfront. After our first session or two, I will be able to give you a better idea of what your therapy will look like. I can never guarantee how long it will actually take.

What types of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, checks or all major credit cards. When paying with a card, I go through IvyPay. It is a HIPPA compliant, secure way of using your credit card but I never have to handle your card or have to store your numbers. It is a lot more secure for you and for me.
