The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout, Ph.d
Do you know someone who is manipulative and often turns thing around on YOU when you share your feelings with them?

What about someone who doesn’t show any kind of remorse or regret when they hurt you or treat you badly?

Is there someone in your life that is impulsive, struggles with taking responsibility, or is overly irritable or aggressive?

If you recognize any of these traits, you must read this book! These are just  a few of the 7 characteristics of a sociopath.

When we hear the word sociopath, we often think of a serial killer or someone who creeps everyone out. Not someone who is charming, charismatic, or…well…that looks like me or you! Would you believe, 1 in 25 people are sociopaths (or antisocial personality disorder)? This statistic is straight from The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual used for diagnosis in the mental health and medical field.

This book is truly a must read for all Therapists and anyone dealing with someone who is “crazy-making” (Those people you walk away from going, “What just happened? I was just trying to tell them how I feel and now I feel even worse!”).

I must warn you- this isn’t a feel good type of book. You will not walk away feeling excited and happy. But you will walk away with a knowledge that will open your eyes to the people in your life who may be sociopaths and give you invaluable insight into how you deal with them.

It’s an incredible book and in my professional opinion, spot on!
